Mike Morland is an experienced communications strategist who builds visibility, engagement and impact through storytelling, digital media and mission-driven marketing. As Associate Director for Communications and Marketing at Wayne State University’s Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, he leads all external communications efforts, highlighting the college’s academic excellence, research, student success and community impact across metro Detroit and beyond.

Previously, Mike served as Director of Communications and Marketing at the University of Michigan, where he led integrated communications for high-profile initiatives including Wolverine Pathways, the Center for Educational Outreach (CEO), the National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID) and the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (OAMI). His work encompassed executive messaging, cross-platform campaigns, media relations and collaborative branding efforts that elevated institutional priorities and deepened community connections.

Mike’s areas of expertise include executive and strategic communications, integrated marketing and brand strategy, digital media production (audio, video and social), visual storytelling and editorial photography, website and UX design, public and media relations, campaign development and team leadership. He brings a journalist’s mindset and a marketer’s discipline to every project, helping organizations connect with their audiences in meaningful ways.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, with concentrations in print journalism and electronic media. His commitment to academic and professional excellence has earned him recognition, including the Mentor of the Year award from the University of Michigan-Dearborn for his contributions to the humanities internship program. He was also honored as a team recipient of the Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award. His work at the U-M Detroit Center and entrepreneurial efforts earned him a nomination for Crain’s Detroit Business “Twenty in their 20s” award.
